Description

This design was made to celebrate and commemorate my beloved friend Greg Przytulski. Greg loved sacred geometry; his tattoos reflected his appreciation for the beauty of repeating geometric patterns and the deep meanings they hold.

There are several reasons why I chose the heart as the subject for his memorial. For one, Greg had a big heart. He will always be remembered for his kind and loving nature, for his laughter and sense of humor, for his understanding and compassion, and for his friendship that felt like a brotherhood. Secondly, Greg donated his heart through Gift of Life and was able to save someone else’s life. This incredible act of giving will forever be something he is remembered for. Finally, the heart represents how Greg will always be in our own hearts. Our memories of him will remain pure, vibrant and strong.

The pattern on the heart is an intricate honeycomb design Greg had tattooed all over his arm. Here, the pattern dissolves out into space to represent his passing into another life. There are hidden shapes also known as the platonic solids in the dissolving particles; cubes (earth), tetrahedrons (fire), octahedrons (air), and icosahedrons (water). Greg had the platonic solids tattooed on his forearm, so including them was a must. Lastly, at the apex of the heart is a shape called the dodecahedron. It’s the fifth platonic solid which represents Spirit. Greg’s spirit is still very much alive.

And may his spirit forever dance with the divine light that gives us all life.
